Waterbase Discharge Inks

Waterbase Discharge Inks are designed for printing on 100% Cotton fabrics, the process requires an Activator Powder to be mixed in to the base or color. Discharge inks penetrate deep into the fabric removing the dye color during curing.

Create colors by Mixing: Discharge Clear Base + WB Conc. Pigment + Activator Powder.

Follow the recommended ratios below, use a gram scale when mixing components:

Available products:

• Waterbase Discharge Clear Base: a Clear Base for mixing concentrated pigments to create Discharge ready to use inks, requires Activator Powder be added (3-5%)
• Waterbase Discharge White: a Ready to use Discharge White ink for printing on 100% Cotton garments, requires Activator Powder be added (3-5%)
• Waterbase Discharge Activator: a Powder designed to activate the Discharge ink to remove the dye from the cotton garments during the curing process.

-Recommended Mesh for Discharge colors: 156ct - 200ct Mesh
-Recommended Mesh for Discharge White: 110ct - 156ct Mesh

-Emulsion/Stencil: QT-Discharge, Textil DW or Grafic HU Emulsions
Note to user: if using Photopolymer Emulsions, such as: Textil PV or Textil PH Blue we recommend applying Fixer 9 Stencil hardener.

Flash and Curing Guidelines:

-Curing Temperature: 320°F @ 90sec. (For best results 2-3 minutes at 320°F)
-Flashing Temp: 230°F - 7 - 12 seconds

Recommended Clean Up:

-On Press Cleaner: WB Screen Opener
-Reclaim Wash Booth: BIO-1 Ink Wash or PPI Ink Wash

Note for user: For Optimal use activate only enough ink for the production, shelf life after activating with powder is approx. 24hrs. Mix thoroughly to make sure no chunks or grains are visible. Once the powder is added to the ink it will last for 24 hours. We recommend misting the screen with water during high volume runs to prevent the ink from drying out in the mesh.

General Testing: Before any large production, we recommend doing a stretch test and a wash test to ensure your curing parameters are set correctly prior to full production. For best results we recommend only using 100% Cotton Dischargeable fabrics. Synthetic fabrics such as Polyester or Poly Blends will not discharge properly.

Color Matching Info: Some colors do not discharge well as others, such as: Red, Teal & Purples. Pantone Color matching may not be exact. Color outcome cannot be guaranteed due to the differences in how some cotton fabrics are dyed.
